SMFG implemented a 100-for-1 stock split on January 4, 2009. As a
consequence, the number of common stock outstanding increased
781,189,672.23 shares.

SMFG issued new shares through offering on June 22, 2009. As a result, common stock increased 219,700,000 shares and capital and capital reserve increased 413,695 million yen and 417,790 million yen, respectively.
