SMBC meets Contemporary Art

SMBCグループの「SMBC ART HQ」第１弾として、ミスミグループ創業者の田口弘氏が収集した、アートコレクションから18点を展示する「SMBC meets Contemporary Art　～Come take a look！」展を、三井住友銀行東館1F アース・ガーデンにて開催いたします。

アートは、SMBCグループが掲げるFive ValuesのひとつであるPROACTIVE & INNOVATIVE（先進性と独創性）の精神に繋がるものと考えており、アートに触れる場と環境を広く多くの方々にご提供することを通じ、お客さま、ご来場者、グループ役職員の創造性、先進性を刺激していくことを活動の目的としています。

The "SMBC meets Contemporary Art—Come take a look!" Exhibition, the first of the SMBC Group's "SMBC ART HQ" series of exhibitions, will be held in the Earth Garden on the first floor of the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation East Tower and will present 18 works from the art collection of MISUMI Group founder Hiroshi Taguchi.

We believe that art ties into the spirit of being “proactive & innovative”, one of the SMBC Group’s Five Values, and SMBC ART HQ’s aim is to stimulate creativity and innovation among customers, visitors, and Group executives and employees by providing a venue and environment that offer an encounter with art to a wider section of the public.

本展覧会のキーワードは「国際性」「信頼」「継続性」「チャレンジ精神」です。世界の動向を反映し（国際性）、一定の評価を受けた作家（信頼）をラインアップ。

収集初期のミスミコレクションには、今では高額となり手に入れることが困難な作家の作品が含まれ、時間をかけるコレクションの価値を示しています（継続性）。

一方で、新進気鋭の若手作家の作品も含まれており（チャレンジ精神）、同時代の表現としての現代アートを実感することができるでしょう。

The keywords for this exhibition are "internationality," "trust," "continuity," and "the spirit of challenge." It will feature a lineup of artists reflecting international trends (“internationality”) who have achieved a certain measure of appreciation (“trust”). The earliest additions to the Misumi collection come from artists whose works are now expensive and difficult to obtain, demonstrating the value of the collection over time (“continuity”). At the same time, works from up-and-coming young artists are also included (“the spirit of challenge”), allowing visitors to experience contemporary art as an expression of their own era.
