Creating Social Value Through Vision Health

Beneficiaries expressed sincere gratitude, sharing that clearer vision immediately improved their daily lives. One participant said the ability to see again felt like “getting my life back,” as restored vision renewed confidence and independence. Another beneficiary, a community worker, reported that improved eyesight relieved long?standing strain and allowed them to support their household more effectively. A worker in a physically demanding job shared that receiving spectacles brought relief from chronic discomfort and made everyday tasks easier. Others noted that better near vision significantly increased their productivity and income, describing the support as a source of renewed hope and stability for their families. Overall, beneficiaries conveyed a strong sense of relief, empowerment, and appreciation for the life?changing impact of the initiative.

2025年10月、SMFG India Credit Companyは視覚障がいの予防・治療支援に取組むNGO「Mission for Vision」と連携し、漁業従事者や茶園労働者など十分な支援が届きにくいコミュニティを対象に、無料の眼科検診プログラム等を実施しました。
計4,608名の方に検診を行い、このうち1,535名の方に眼鏡を提供、83名の方が白内障の手術を受けることができ、参加者の失明の予防や視力回復によるウェルビーイング向上に貢献いたしました。
今後もインドにおいて、本プロジェクトのテーマである「視力を通じて生活に光を灯す」ことを目指した取組みを継続してまいります。
In October 2025, SMFG India Credit Company and Mission for Vision conducted the Shaka-kachi eye care initiative across five states, providing screenings and eye health support to underserved communities such as fishermen, tea garden laborers, bidi workers, and SHG members.
A total of 4,608 people were screened, 1,535 received spectacles, and 83 underwent cataract surgery.
With active participation from 24 SMFG employees, the project improved access to primary eye care and contributed to preventing avoidable blindness and strengthening community well being.
