Joint Use of Personal Data
within the SMBC Group

SMFG jointly uses the personal data of clients in accordance with Article 23-5-3 of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information to strengthen cooperation with companies of the SMBC Group to provide various value-added products and services, and to enhance business and risk management for the overall group.

Note that joint usage is limited to the extent necessary and carried out under a set platform so as to not unfairly harm the interests of clients. Aside from the Act to Protect Personal Information, SMFG also handles the joint use of personal data in accordance with other laws, including the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law, should they stipulate restrictions on joint usage.

  1. 1.Personal data that is jointly used
    1. (1)Information on attributes (client and family information including address, name, date of birth, workplace, occupation, title, telephone number and other contact information)
    2. (2)Financial information (including income, expenses, assets, and liabilities)
    3. (3)Information on transactions (including types of financial products and services, transaction amounts, contract dates, and transaction needs)
    4. (4)Information essential to managing transactions (including number of the branch where the transaction was conducted, account number and other numbers used for management, transaction records, sequence of events, financing, and other information used to render decisions)
  2. 2.Scope of joint users
    SMFG and the consolidated subsidiaries and equity-method affiliates listed in its securities filings that have already been disclosed in accordance with Article 23-5-3 of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
  3. 3.Purpose of joint usage
    1. (1)Planning and development of various financial products and services that meet client needs and individual recommendations and notifications to clients of these various financial products and services
    2. (2)Proper execution as a business and risk management group, including understanding and controlling various risks
