Organizational Revision of SMFG and SMBC

TOKYO, October 3, 2011 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG, President: Miyata Koichi) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, President: Takeshi Kunibe) announced today the establishment of “Transaction Business Planning Department” within their organizations.

Enhancing the transaction services business, including deposits, cash management, foreign exchange, and supply chain financing, especially in Asia, is one of our core growth strategies. The new department, established within each organization’s Corporate Planning Department, will devise long-term, integrated business plans and strategies for the SMFG/SMBC group.

The new departments are the cornerstone of SMFG's initiative to develop infrastructure to offer higher quality products and services and achieve top quality in transaction services business.
