Strengthening DE&I Across SMBC Group
At SMBC Group, each group company is actively engaged in advancing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I). To further reinforce these efforts across the organization, we have established the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Department within our holding company, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG). Additionally, the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee—chaired by the Group CEO and composed of the presidents of SMBC Group companies—plays a central role in driving our initiatives.
With strong commitment from executive leadership, the committee sets goals, develops strategies, and oversees training programs, while also monitoring and reviewing the overall progress to ensure that DE&I is embedded throughout the organization. As part of these initiatives, we offer training programs aimed at raising awareness of the importance of diversity. These programs are planned and reviewed under the supervision of the HR executives.
