INTRODUCTION はじめに
本展は、「SMBC ART HQ」第3弾として、AWATA COLLECTIONによる婁正綱氏の作品を紹介する展覧会です。新作含む約15点の作品を展示いたします。先鋭的でありながらも時代を超越する優雅さを備えた作品群は、観る者を圧倒する存在感を放ちます。
アートには、社会の課題を浮き彫りにし、また希望ある未来を照らす力があると考えています。SMBC ART HQでは、SMBCグループの施設を活用して広く多くの方に対して良質なアートに触れて社会について思いを馳せるきっかけをご提供することを通じ、持続可能な社会の実現に貢献してまいります。
Presented as the third installment of the “SMBC ART HQ” initiative, this exhibition features the works of Lou Zhenggang from the AWATA COLLECTION. Approximately fifteen pieces will be on view, including new works created between 2018 and 2025.Merging avant-garde sensibilities with a timeless elegance, each work resonates with a powerful presence that captivates viewers. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience the breadth and depth of Lou Zhenggang’ s artistic vision through a carefully curated selection from the AWATA COLLECTION.
We believe that art has the power to highlight social issues and illuminate a hopeful future. SMBC ART HQ aims to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by providing opportunities for a wide range of people to experience art with quality and think about society through the use of SMBC Group facilities.

あるときは勇気を、あるときは慰めを。アートは私に、言葉では言い尽くせない力を与えてくれます。At times, it gives me courage. At other times, comfort. Art offers a power beyond words.
私が企業経営の道を歩む中で、人生の節々において芸術作品は、言葉では言い尽くせぬ深い力を与えてくれました。2022年、画家・婁正綱氏との出会いは、まさに運命的な巡り合わせでした。偶然訪れた伊豆のアトリエにて、氏と時間を共にし、その創作の空間と作品世界に深く身を委ねた体験は、私が婁氏の作品を生涯の伴侶とする決意を固める、決定的な契機となったのです。婁氏の作品の前に立つとき、私の内なる想像力は静かに解き放たれ、思索の深淵へと誘われていきます。経営においても、どれだけ広く深い構想を描けるかが、その事業の大きさと奥行きを決める――私はそう確信しています。構想力を磨き、心の高みを保ち続けること。それは、スポーツ選手のイメージトレーニングにも似た、経営者に不可欠な精神の鍛錬であり、「思い描いたことが現実を動かす」という信念は、私の中で揺るぎない指針となっています。世界は無数の可能性に満ちあふれています。そして、その可能性を信じ抜いた者にのみ、真の成功は訪れます。婁正綱氏の作品は、私の思考を果てしなく広げ、内に秘めた力をそっと呼び覚ましてくれる存在なのです。AWATA COLLECTIONは、私の経営活動とは明確に一線を画した、純然たる私的な探求の結晶です。2024年、東京・広尾に開設した「Gallery L」は、婁正綱氏の画業全体に世界で唯一触れられる空間として、その精神と芸術の本質に静かに迫る場となることを願い、設立いたしました。

婁正綱の作品は、視覚芸術の枠を超え、まるで詩のように心に響きます。その作品には、内的な力と哲学的な美が同居しており、観る者を静かに、しかし確実に感情の深層へと導くのです。私は世界中の現代アートを見てきましたが、婁氏の作品には特有の“時間の静寂”とでも呼ぶべき魅力がある。筆の一挙手一投足に込められた緊張と解放のリズムは、音楽的であり、また祈りにも似ています。コレクターとしてだけでなく、長年アートの最前線に立ってきた者として、婁正綱の作品は、今まさに世界に再認識されるべき価値を持っていると確信しています。

As I have navigated the course of corporate leadership, there have been moments when art has bestowed upon me a power far beyond what words can convey. In 2022, I encountered the works of Lou Zhenggang—an artist whose presence felt as though guided by fate itself. A serendipitous visit to her studio in Izu, where I was deeply immersed in the creative atmosphere and surrounded by her works, proved to be a decisive turning point. That profound experience compelled me to commit myself to a lifelong partnership with her oeuvre. When I stand before her work, my inner world is quietly stirred, and my imagination is set free. Her paintings draw me into a space of contemplative depth. For those of us engaged in enterprise, the ability to envision and build complex structures is indispensable—but it is the power of imagination that determines the true scale and depth of our endeavors. I firmly believe this. Just as athletes undergo rigorous mental training, leaders too must cultivate the mind to envision, reflect, and execute. I hold that it is thought that moves reality, and this conviction has become an unshakable compass in my life.
Lou Zhenggang’s art is not merely beautiful—it is imbued with limitless potential. True resonance is only possible when one approaches it with sincerity. Her creations have broadened the horizon of my inner world, awakened something ineffable within me, and remain a deeply imprinted presence in my life.
AWATA COLLECTION stands as a natural extension of my business journey—born from a passionate and deeply personal pursuit of art. In 2024, we inaugurated Gallery L in Hiroo, Tokyo, as a dedicated space to present Lou Zhenggang’s work in its purest form—a sanctuary of spirit and artistic essence.

Lou Zhenggang’s works transcend visual aesthetics—they resonate with the soul as though echoing through the corridors of time.
